Best of Beauty 2019 Sophie Turner

As we are collectively holding our proverbial breath waiting for the summer to arrive in the UK I thought it’s best to find a subject for this week’s post that always makes me smile. You guessed it, it will be a ‘Best of Beauty’ post. Not just any ‘Best of Beauty’ but the best of the beauty looks of Sophie Turner. One of the busiest actors in 2019, this year she has brought us the long-awaited last season of Game of Thrones, X-Men Dark Phoenix, lots of press interviews, talk show, red carpet appearances and even a well-publicized wedding too and it’s only June. I admire her beauty and her willingness to take risks when it comes to beauty looks but let’s face it, she is just one of those women who doesn’t even have to wear makeup to look great.  This following post will be an unashamed Sophie Turner-Georgie Eisdell appreciation post, fangirling about beauty, makeup and serving as a makeup inspiration for your summer party season.

Looking at her outings this year, Sophie’s go-to makeup artist Georgie Eisdell has been working tirelessly all year coming up with a gorgeous variety of looks that makes me want to pick up my brushes and do makeup immediately.  Georgie is a talented Australian-born Los Angeles-based makeup artist specializing in red carpet and editorial makeup who can boast with a prestigious celebrity clientele including Gwyneth Paltrow, Alicia Vikander, Carey Mulligan, Nicholas Hoult, Dave Franco, Jessica Lang and lately, Sophie Turner.  Her IG feed is a joy to watch if only she was less tight-lipped about the products she is usually using. Oh, well, that won’t stop me from appreciating her artistry, what’s more, I love the challenge of trying to find products that you can recreate her looks with.

I think my absolute favourite look has to be the one for the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 8 back in April. Those deep dark, matte black smoky eyes were blended like a dream and enhanced Sophie’s piercing blue eyes perfectly.

I am not sure how much Sophie’s look was following the theme ‘camp’ at the Met Gala back in May but no-one can deny that her make-up and hair was one of the best and most fun-looking. The dramatic blue winged-out eye look (with Pat McGrath Labs eyeshadow in Lapis Luxury) and glittery hair had definitely some heads turning.

At the Mexico stop of the X-Men press tour, Georgie made this gorgeous liner look using a Stila white liner, a black liner and mascara from Pat McGrath Labs.

We have a repeat of a black smokey eye look on day two of the X-Men press tour, only it is more charcoal than deep black, it is softer and has a touch of navy eyeliner (from Nars) added to it.

Later that same day, Eisdell made a quick change to Turner’s makeup, softening the look with a light bone shade eyeshadow and a more subtle black line perfectly blended along the lash line finished off with lashings of mascara.

Looking into the comments under the next photo on IG, luckily I’ve found the product details of this absolutely stunning look on day 4 of the London X-Men press tour. Georgie has used Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, Creme De La Mer powder, YSL Faux Cils mascara,  Bobbi Brown blush in Pale Pink and that beautiful lip shade is Fever Dream from Pat McGrath.

Monochromatic looks have been popping up on red carpets this year quite often, here is one demonstrated by Eisdell at the Paris stop of the X-Men press tour. She picked a dark rose shade for the eyes and lips, a lighter one for the cheeks that perfectly fits Sophie’s complexion and blond hair.

Sophie wore softly blended black eyeliner wings, lashings of mascara and nude glossy lips for some Game of Thornes tv interviews back in April.

This stunning electric blue eyeliner look was worn by Sophie for a Game of Thrones press day. Eisdell has toned down the rest of the look, letting the liner do the talking. While the origins of the liner remains a mystery, there are a few dupes you could use the recreate this look, for instance, NYX Professional Makeup Slim Eyepencil in Electric Blue or Sapphire, Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Electric Cobalt, Natasha Denona Eye Liner Pencil by Natasha Denona in Cobalt Blue, NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Khao San Road, Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil in Iridescent Blue with Green Sparkle.

Camilla Belle at the Golden Globes wore a similar teal eyeshadow look back in January. Sophie wore this ’60s inspired look at the Beijing stop of the X-Men press tour. Again, sadly, we don’t know what eyeshadow Eisdell used but you could recreate the look with Maybelline Color Sensational Mono Eye Shadow in 95 Pure Teal, Nars Single Eyeshadow in Ganges or Natasha Denona Mono Eye Shadow Metallic in Deep Teal.

For the premiere of the Jonas brothers’ documentary, Sophie wore a soft gold eye, red lip combination. That sophisticated red shade is a lip pencil from Nars called Endangered.

This next look was designed for the Korean premiere of X-Men Dark Phoenix showing off Sophie’s razor-sharp cheekbones and icy blue eyes. Georgie used a Jillian Dempsey eyeliner, smudged it and went over with a black eyeshadow to soften the line.

You can’t go wrong with a smoky eye look for a movie premiere, especially in Sophie’s case. A shimmery taupe-plum shadow combination enhanced the blue in her eyes and pairing it with fresh peachy cheeks, lips and classic Hollywood waves made the look incredibly chic.

Eisdell has created a soft and pretty look for the last day of the X-Men press tour using a mixture of Armani Luminous Silk and Chanel Aqua Lumiere Foundations, lashings of YSL Faux Cil Mascara a  Tom Ford in Pink Dusk.

For a London press day, Eisdell opted for a matte eye look where a deep rusty brown eyeshadow fades out into a light terracotta shade. She used Mac Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Dali Wood and Rule and paired it with a glossy nude lip.

Later that day for the screening of the new X-Men movie Eisdell used the same Mac shades with added shimmer and more mascara.

This next look Sophie wore in Mexico was all about the glow and muted, subtle shades. It’s always nice to see her in less makeup, it really suits her.

See? She doesn’t need much makeup to look beautiful. Sophie here is wearing a pared down natural makeup with Armani Luminous Silk Foundation YSL Faux Cil Mascara and Cle De Peau lipstick in Water Lily.

For the Billboard Music Awards Sophie wore old gold smoky eyes and Georgie boosted Sophie’s lashes with single falsies. The muted shades and fresh cheeks went really well with her vibrant outfit.

This cool, laidback style is definitely among my most favourites on Sophie. For this look, Eisdell left her base minimal and paired it with a soft berry eyeshadow and a Josie Maran’s lip stain in Berry Bliss.

Which look is your favourite?
