I usually don’t wear glitter and sparkle that often although I am more than happy to apply it on clients all the time. When it comes to Brighton Pride, however, I’m all up for it, I could even take a bath in a pool of sparkle. My birthday weekend coincides with Brighton Pride and this year me and my boyfriend decided to go to the Village Party which is basically a huge street party with DJs and great music. Needless to say, part of the prep was looking for something appropriately sparkly but nothing too outrageous. I wanted a look that is a bit of fun but totally fuss-free and comfortable. Following the recommendation of a friend, I have decided on getting a few of the Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liners. At £2.99 a pop, I thought, I won’t lose much if they don’t work. This is not a new launch but very well fitting for the time of the year and I have to say, they worked really well.
Shades I went for: No 4, Hustle (silver); No 5, Le Freak (aqua blue), No 15, Dig It (old gold)
Packaging: simple lightweight plastic tube
Who it is for: as far as I know there are no restrictions for skin types, though one of my friends complained about a bit of stinging when wearing it
How it worked for me: it is easy to apply, the brush is not too soft or firm so the application is actually very easy, none of them caused irritation, you can layer the formula to make it more intense, after application it lasted for 7 hours, the glitter hasn’t dropped. It is a bit messy to wash off, but hey, it’s glitter, I am absolutely pleased how it worked.
Value for money: fantastic, for £2.99 each you can create a whole set of fun looks at home, there are more colours available in the range.
My birthday/Brighton Pride makeup look:
Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser, lashings of Solait SPF50 face cream, plenty of By Terry Baume De Rose, Mac Fix+. I kept it very simple, sun protection was the main thing here.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light shade 2 and 3, Bobbi Brown Colour Corrector in Light Peach, Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer in Shade 21 Linen all buffed together with a Real Techniques sponge.
Kiko Precision Brow Pencil in no. 4, Mac Fluidline Brow Gelcreme (I used this one just to draw in a few hairs with a tiny artist brush).
Mac Paint Pot in Painterly as a base, Charlotte Tilbury Golden Goddess palette ‘smoke’ shade in the socket and a generous application of the ‘pop’ shade all over, Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in Dig It along the upper lash line. I used my trusty Blacktrack cream liner from Mac on the upper waterline and a few coats of e.l.f Length and Volume Mascara. I deliberately didn’t apply eyeshadow under the eyes just so it doesn’t end up all over my face during the night.
Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette in Natural Beauty Shade 4. Bronze all over the face, Shade 7. Highlight on the highest point of the cheekbones followed by Mac Warm Soul Mineralize blusher.
Knowing that there will be a fair amount of drinking during the night and no chance or willingness to maintain a proper lip look, I only applied lashings of By Terry Baume De Rose mixed with a bit of Pillow Talk lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury.
To wrap up this quick post, here are the other looks with the eyeliners I tried for fun:
Looking back, it seems I went for the most subdued look of all, maybe next time I will choose something like the second one. Which one is your favourite?
