This week’s look is inspired by yet another Pati Dubroff creation. The Met Gala was on the 7th of May, this year’s theme was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’. Controversial topic for some, I, however, was looking forward to seeing all the creativity it inspires. The Vatican approved of the subject matter, what’s more, they donated pieces to the Metropolitan, so I don’t there’s anything controversial here only the desire to see how fashion can take inspiration from hundreds of years worth of Catholic art.
Priyanka Chopra is a regular on my red carpet roundups and she didn’t disappoint this time either, she wore one of my favourite beauty looks on the day that complemented her stunning Ralph Lauren maroon-gold gown with that ornate headpiece. “This Ralph Lauren creation is completely crafted by hand, with Swarovski crystals, meticulous beadwork, and over 250 hours of embroidery,” said the designer that makes you truly appreciate the work that has been done on it.
While her headpiece stole the show, the makeup was perfectly complementing the whole look and was beautifully executed. Priyanka’s inspiration for her whole look was Italian Renaissance paintings, Pati’s inspiration was Sophia Loren, “the feeling of Italy” an “the look of a gilded Indian goddess”. She used Chanel Les4 Ombres in Candeur et Experience and Ombre Premiere in Mirage later added Lemonhead LA custom glitter for an extra sparkle. Her lip colour was the blend of Chanel’s Rouge allure Ink in 184 Dark Purple and Rouge Allure Velvet 38 in La Fascinante on top.
This is my look that was inspired by Priyanka’s:
Here is the list of products I used:
Pixi – Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum, L’occitane Aqua Rèotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel, Make Up For Ever Step 1 Equalizer Shade in Mauve.
YSL All Hours Foundation in B30 mixed with Chanel Vitalumière Aqua in Shade 20, Garnier SkinActive BB Eye Roll-On, YSL All Hours Concealer in Shade 2 and 3, all buffed together with a Real Techniques sponge.
Kiko Precision Eyebrow Pencil in 04, Mac Fluidline Brow Gelcreme (I used this one just to draw in a few hairs with a tiny artist brush).
Mac Paint Pot in Indianwood as a base, Mac Mineralize Eyeshadow in Gilt By Association, blended with a Real Techniques blending brush, plenty of Mac Glitter in Gold on top (since I have hooded eyes, I applied more in the inner corners and the upper lid so it’s more visible), Mac Blacktrack in the upper waterline, e.l.f Length and Volume Mascara.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Pearl, Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette in Natural Beauty Shade 4. Bronze mixed with shade 7. Highlight all applied with a Mac 150 brush.
I lined with a mix of Basic Red and Currant, then applied Mac Amplified lipstick in Dubonnet and a touch of Mac Retro Matte in Diva.
