NEW In – L’Occitane Aqua Réotier Water Gel Cleanser and Gel Creme (review)

If there’s a range born to be photographed and shared on Instagram, this is it. L’occitane has just come out with their new Aqua Réotier Collection but it’s already getting plenty of love online. It comes as no surprise since apart from having beautiful packaging, skincare ranges built around Hyaluronic Acid are still very popular among beauty brands and the general public.

As we all know, Hyaluronic Acid is a brilliant moisture retaining ingredient but what makes Loccitanes’s new range a little bit different from the rest and the little bit more interesting is that the products are enriched with minerals like Calcium from the water of the Réotier Spring in Provence. Calcium helps the skin to maintain its barrier function and it helps it to hold on to moisture.

L’occitane was smart to recognise they needed a range like this to update their portfolio so they filled that gap with Aqua Réotier beautifully. The range contains a cleanser, an essence, a gel moisturizer, a cream moisturizer and moisturizing mist. I have to say the timing of the launch is perfect too just as the holiday season starts.

I ended up going for a nice online deal, a set that contains the cleanser and the gel moisturiser for £35.00 that comes with a  free re-usable water bottle.

The packaging of the whole range is classy, beautiful fresh Aqua blue coloured evoking summer holidays spent by the beach or pool. The moisturisers are in a glass jar that is quite heavy especially when you’re travelling BUT the less plastic we use, the better off the environment is.

Aqua Réotier Water Gel Cleanser

The cleanser has a light, gel-like texture, it is very easy to apply and as you are massaging it on to the skin the formula turns into a soft lather and releases a pleasant refreshing scent with the addition of a tiny bit of water. It takes off makeup, excess oil, dead skin cells and leaves your skin refreshed and soft. The website advises rinsing it off but I use a face cloth to remove everything as I usually do. This is perfect for a refreshing second cleanse or morning cleanse, I still do a good old balm cleanse in the evening first. I can see this working on pretty much all skin types.

The cleanser contains SLS and fragrance, just in case you are sensitive to those. It is £19.00 for 195ml on the L’occitane website here , but I bet this will last long because a little goes a long way.

Aqua Réotier Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel

Chosing the gel moisturiser was a no brainer for me (though I recieved a sample of the cream too and it feels lovely) just because of the light texture.  The Hyaluronic Acid and added Calcium helps to improve the barrier function of the skin and helps to retain moisture. The formula contains micro-bubbles that burst on application and deliver the precious ingredients onto the skin.

I adore light moisturisers for the day, especially during Spring and Summer since I never liked heavy formulas on my skin under my SPF.  The Ultra Thirst-Quenching Gel has a light consistency, it beautifully glides on the skin and sinks in very quickly leaving the skin soft and plump. It is slightly tacky for a few seconds (just like almost all HA products) but that ‘s only temporary, the formula is very comfortable to wear during the day. I can see this working on all skin types.

I am very pleased with adding this moisturiser to my morning routine, it will make my routine very pleasant in the next few months. This formula is perfect for the Spring and Summer under heavier SPF creams and makeup or after a day in the sun. It is refreshing, cooling and nourishing without it feeling heavy on the skin.

It contains fragrance, in case you are sensitive to it, you can get it from the here website for £28.00.

Water Bottle

The set I ordered came with a free reusable water bottle. More and more companies are making a pledge to help and save the environment and our oceans from plastic waste which is very encouraging and I can only support that.  This dainty little thing will be perfect to carry around instead of the usual plastic ones.
